"Commissioned by the Model Arts and Niland Gallery as part of model::offsite, Relay is an online music project curated by musician John Lambert (aka Chequerboard).
Lambert will invite a selection of irish and international sound artists and musicians to contribute to Relay over the duration of the project.
He will record an initial sound work and then relay this piece to the first contributor. Each work will be published online as it is completed, and this page will map the path of this dialogue of ideas between artists."

You can hear/read Jimmy's contribution here.
Loscil, Murcof and others will follow.]]>

<![CDATA[Color for me]]> http://www.zymogen.net Marihiko Hara has contributed to a very interesting remix-project run by Sawako.

"Take the sounds from Sawako's Summer Tour field recordings, and make new material with them. That's all the artists were asked to do. The result is a collection that displays the range of artists and the range of approaches. Some use only the original source sounds. Some use them sparingly in the context of a new song. Some add new instrumentation to an otherwise field recording-heavy piece. The common thread is that we love them all."

Summer Tour Volume 2 is available for free download on Anticipate website.]]>

<![CDATA[Con_cetta new album out now on Moteer]]> http://www.zymogen.net Moteer:

"New Moteer acquisition Con Cetta hails from Sicily, expanding upon the label's established sound with an album of beautiful, evocative processed sounds, exploring the properties of the looping and layering techniques available in the post-glitch era. While much of this album might be seen to approximate the classic clicks+cuts sounds of late period Mille Plateaux, there's a sublime late night aesthetic here that's effortless and hugely involving, perhaps more closely resembling the more melodically accommodating sounds of Mokira or even 12k's shuttle358 on 'Connecting Forming Averaging Positive'. More shuffling ambient strategies follow on 'Ken', which takes some emphasis off beat-like rhythms and instead immerses the listener in the granular judder of Con Cetta's lively circuitry, something perhaps best exemplified by the Tim Hecker-like piano and field recording blur of album closer 'Mentis'. "Micro" establishes a wonderful harmony between the familiarly warm, melodic compositions of the Moteer sound and a more experimental, ambient approach to electronic music, making for another exceptional transmission from this always-great label. Gorgeous music - Essential Purchase."

Album of the week on Boomkat, obviously recommended.]]>

<![CDATA[zym020/Jimmy Behan - In the Sudden Distance]]> http://www.zymogen.net/releases/zym020 Currently, his work focuses on finding emotional connections between the physicality of sounds and their contexts. The physical characteristics of sounds (dynamics, texture and space) are explored via a range of processes before determining the emotional tone of a piece.
The 'In the Sudden Distance EP' attempts to capture that moment when the present suddenly becomes the past, rendering the passing of time as a sudden shift in perspective. Recorded around the time of a relocation to his home town after 16 years, it revolves around themes of change, memory and redemption.
With this concept work Jimmy brings Zymogen to a higher level in the exploration of electronic soundscapes.]]>

<![CDATA[zym019/con_cetta - Sclerosis]]> http://www.zymogen.net/releases/zym019
Sclerosis is his debut under this moniker and could be seen as Giuseppe's attempt at escaping the chaos of the industrial metropolis, generally seen as lacking the color and poetry of everyday life. This release is full of passion while the contrast between the two extremes is clearly audible and molded into the sound.
Giuseppe explores many different languages in the field of electronic music, but his composition process is structured in a particular way.
He begins with samples taken from different recording sessions and then processes every sound using Gleetchlab, a software programmed by Tobor Experiment, which, with its very intuitive interface, gives Giuseppe all the possibilities to express his feelings and imagination in a digital format.]]>

<![CDATA[Cesura's sequel]]> http://www.zymogen.net
"Sparely layered textures with low-key digital processed piano and subtle melodies hidden underneath. Clicks and silences painted into thin soundscapes. Most of his tracks reminds us to the better work of Japanese minimalist electronic composer Ryoji Ikeda. 'Reflexion, und dann, Metamorphose' is maximum minimalism and pure zen"

You can support our artist by buying the album on U-cover mailorder.

<![CDATA[zym018/Letna - Tisza meets Dunav]]> http://www.zymogen.net/releases/zym018/ With Alexandre Navarro he coordinates Sem label and the brand new Iod netlabel, the union between Eko and Standardklik.
Letna already collaborated with Zymogen in the Sky Diary Edits project and we're very happy to start 2008 with his brand new album.

Tisza meets Dunav is a concept work inspired by Sasa's native
country, Serbia. Every song is dedicated to a specific place in the area of the Tisza, which falls into Dunav, the Danube, one of the biggest rivers in Eastern Europe.
Nature elements inspired most of the album: Deliblatska Pescara is the largest sandy terrain in Europe once part of a vast prehistoric desert, Fruska Gora is a beautiful mountain, while Ledinci and Jezera are two lakes located in Serbia. The musical narrative of this album develops slowly through different sound layers: pure and delicate melodies, distant voices, guitar notes, drones, microtonal sound-waves and field recordings.
The evocative power of Letna's music reaches high levels exemplified by the intense momentum of 'White City', a song dedicated to Belgrade.
The emotive atmosphere of songs like 'Deliblatska Pescara' and 'Crossing the Bridge (Novisad)' is present throughout the album. Field recordings feature in every song which guide the listener into a continuum of perfectly designed soundscapes.

Tisza meets Dunav is a progession of Letna's musical research which helps us understand his poetry and the deep meanings hidden behind his abstract creations.]]>
